If you have 4 spare evenings a year and would like to help Thames Valley Police – why not apply to sit on their Independent Advisory Group (IAG). We meet usually at HW police station and discuss various current event policing matters and act as ‘critical friends’ to the police to help them as they carry out their work. The meetings usually last a couple of hours. We also look at current stats on hate crime etc. in the area. If there is a serious matter occurring we may be asked to try and attend a special meeting. In the past year that has only happened once and was linked directly to terrorism. It’s rewarding to be able to have a voice at these meetings, and the police really appreciate all input.
